There are places I recognize without ever having seen them, from that geography of dreams, where a streetlamp’s light is enough to organize a scene. Where objects signal a presence before it emerges. These places exist. I find them again at night, in the city.

Biographie

Born in Montreal, Arold Blanchet is a photographer based in Quebec City. After earning a diploma in film studies, he continued his training through advanced workshops under the direction of Robert Fournier, himself trained by Ansel Adams, in the lineage of straight photography, mastering the techniques of the Zone System. This training shaped his work and remains, to this day, at the core of his artistic practice. Building on this foundation, he now extends this visual exploration into digital photography, using a Leica Q2 Monochrom to transpose the mastery of tonal range and darkroom technique into a digital workflow.
